Anita Rae Cox Shaw passed on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 in Abilene, Texas. The memorial service will be officiated by Rev Paul Matta at 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas 79606. Anita Ray Cox Shaw was born on March 10, 1933 in Wichita Falls Texas to RC and Kathleen Cox. She graduated from Wichita Falls Senior High. She married Ward C Shaw on December 16, 1951 in Wichita Falls Texas. Anita was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy Dixie 35 Sherman, Texas and John Davis Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution, Abilene, Texas. She enjoyed camping with friends in Montgomery, Alabama. She also enjoyed being a member of the bridge clubs in Montgomery, AL and Sherman, TX. She and her husband would take trips in their motor home from Montgomery, AL to upstate New York and to Wichita Falls, TX. They would travel the back roads so they could enjoy the scenery on the trips. Anita Ray Cox Shaw was preceded in death by her husband, Retired Lt Col Ward C Shaw and her daughter Kathleen Mona Shaw and her parents RC Cox and Kathleen Cox. She is leaving her sister, Jerry Nell Sipes and friend Marvin Lovell of Abilene. Her nieces Susan Annette Powell and husband Dave, and Karen Elaine Dito of Poulsbo, Washington, and Gail Alison Tyler of Lucerne Valley, California. Also great nieces and nephews. Cousins Carla Jan Vaughan of Ft Worth and Darrell Dillard of Midland and Mike Blanscet of Ft Worth. She also leaves her chosen sons James W Moseley and Michael J Medlin of Garland and good friends Pearl Tipton and Michelle Bitler of Hickory, North Carolina. Our upmost gratitude goes out to Kinder Hearts Hospice located in Abilene Texas. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Rev Paul Matta and Hospice Coordinator Donna Masters at Kinder Hearts Hospice and all the staff for their personal care of Anita. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Anita's name.
