Anita Adair Ault Bowley (Nino), resident of Abilene, TX, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at the age of 94. Nita was born to Percy and Bertha Davis on December 6, 1916 in Mineral Wells, Texas. She was a graduate of Abilene High School and went on to become one of the City of Abilene's first female office managers. She was a lifelong member of University Baptist Church, and served on many committees there. Nita was married to James Clyde Ault (Salty) for 42 years. Several years after Salty passed away, she married Raymond Bowley (Pop). Nino and Pop spent the next 15 years together traveling and playing with grandchildren before his death.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Curtis Pittman; step-daughters, Gaye Briggs and husband Clint, and Mary Jenke; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Corinne Davis; grandchildren and spouses, Robyn and Jerrod Scott, Zachary and Natalie Pittman and Tyler and Lauren Pittman; great- grandchildren, Lexi, Will, and Tate Scott; Tatum, Tripp and Emmy Pearl Pittman; and Benjamin Pittman; nephew and wife, Bill and Susan Davis; niece, Lisha Davis; great niece and nephew Melody and Matthew Davis; step-grandsons Michael and wife Jamie Angus, and Scot Angus, step-great- grandchildren, Julian and Oliver Angus; and special friends Hugh and Betty Pittman, and Lawrence Shivers. She was preceded in death by both of her husbands and her treasured niece and nephew, John Davis and Martha Davis.
Family and friends will remember Nino as a confident (and maybe a little stubborn), funny, and loving woman who couldn't have been prouder of her family. She always thought of others before thinking of herself. Having a daughter late in life, she never dreamed she would see her family grow and expand. She loved shoes, chocolate, ice cream, and was a wonderful storyteller. She never felt too old for anything in life, and just this year, was crowned Valentine Queen at Royal Estates. Now she is meeting her Father and will be crowned in heaven.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Hamil Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Graveside services will on Thursday, at 3:00 p.m. at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Highway 277 South. Memorials may be made to Pregnancy Resources of Abilene, 2110 North Willis, Abilene, TX 79603.
