Andrew Clark "Andy" Urban, 81, of Abilene, passed away Monday, December 20, 2010.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 23, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Abilene with Dr. Eduardo Rivera and Rev. Pam Rowley officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Andrew was born June 29, 1929 to Margaret Bass Urban and Andrew Urban, Jr. in Abilene, Texas. After graduating from Peacock Military Academy in 1946, he attended Houston School of Pharmacy, graduating in 1951. He met and married Mojie Lowry in Brownwood, Texas. In 1961, they moved to Abilene where he worked at several different pharmacies including Robinson's Pharmacies and Clinic Pharmacy, retiring in 1993. He continued working as relief pharmacist and worked at both Abilene State School and Taylor County Health Department until finally retiring in 2009.
Andrew was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. While in Brownwood, Andy was president of The Brownwood Jaycees in 1958-59. After moving to Abilene he joined West Texas Pharmaceutical Association and was president in 1978-79. He served as a member of the Taylor County Health Board in 1998 and was a consultant pharmacist for the district.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mojie Urban; daughter, Tammy Lynn Rogers; and parents.
Survivors include his son, Clark Urban, his wife Suzie, and their daughter Alex, all of Fort Worth; granddaughter, Amanda Hollis and husband Michael and their daughter, Amelia, of Abilene; one brother, Charles Urban of Pasadena, Texas; and numerous cousins and friends across the country.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's charity of choice.
