Andrew John Hacker of Abilene, passed away on April 20, 2024, in North Richland Hills, TX.
A military service is planned for Monday May 6, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at The Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.
Andrew was born in Abilene to Gary and Aleta Hacker, on August 16, 1983. He attended Wylie schools, graduating with honors in 2001. He received a nomination to and attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, receiving his bachelor's degree and commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army in 2005. As a combat engineer he served in Afghanistan for fifteen months and was awarded a Bronze Star, two Army Commendation Medals, Army Achievement Medal, and Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two stars.
After his release from active duty, he attended Syracuse University on a full scholarship and earned an MBA in Supply Chain.
He used his joy of flying to earn both helicopter and fixed wing pilots' licenses and was a flight instructor until becoming a pilot for Envoy Airlines.
Andrew is survived by his parents, his daughter Eva Raine Hacker, his aunts, uncles, and cousins and friends from both his Wylie and West Point classes.
