Alton "Butch" Edwards of Buffalo Gap passed away on November 19, 2016 at his home with his family at his side. A memorial service will be held on November 30th at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church Buffalo Gap with Pastor Chuck Gililland and Bro. Burtis Williams officiating.
Butch was born in Lamesa, Texas to Gaddis and Vivian Edwards on October 30, 1939. He graduated from Abilene High School and then attended McMurry University. He married the love of his life Marlene Edwards on December 2, 1977. Butch worked as a district manager for United Insurance until his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church Buffalo Gap.
Butch was preceded in death by his father Gaddis Edwards, a daughter Loretta Norman, and a son Benny Edwards.
Butch is survived by his wife Marlene Edwards of Buffalo Gap, mother Vivian Edwards of Abilene, daughter Christy Hext of Houston, daughter Shelly Goza and husband Trey of Anson, daughter Angie Lane and husband George of Abilene, daughter Valerie Binkley and husband Jim of Lima Ohio, son Lucky Fuller and wife Yvone of Lubbock, daughter Renee Stephens and husband Barry of Wisconsin, son Robert Collins of Abilene, daughter Kimberly Thomas of Lima Ohio, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Butch is also survived by his sisters Peggy Lusk and husband Tom of Abilene and Sue Derington of Merkel.
