Alma Lee Adams, 88, died Sunday, February 8, 2015 in Abilene.
Visitation will be 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 12, in The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with Bill King, son-in-law, officiating, followed by a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. Thursday in Wilbarger Memorial Park in Vernon, Texas.
Born in Abilene, Texas on September 2, 1926, Lee was the daughter of Annie (Tucker) and Othel Lewis Matthews. She graduated from Wylie High School and worked for the State of Texas as an accountant at both the State Hospital in Vernon, Texas and Abilene State School. She was a Baptist. Lee moved back to the Abilene area in 1982.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Boyce Adams, on September 20, 1980; and a son, David Adams.
Lee is survived by her daughter, LeAnn King and husband Bill of Clyde; her daughter-in-law, Arlene Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one brother, Lewis Matthews of Clyde; two sisters, Annie Mae Bennett of Oklahoma City, and Clara Joyce Neely of Lake Whitney, Texas; four grandchildren, Dr. Heather Elaine Murphy, Scott Adams, Dr. LaPonna Irvine Moore, and Moriah Irvine Kerr; six great-grandchildren, Madeline Murphy, Abby Lee Murphy, Boyce Adams, Asher Moore, Kingsley Anne Moore, and Luke Ryan Kerr; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
