Allie Mae Edington, 94, passed away March 29, 2006 in Abilene. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday April 1, 2006 at Southside Baptist Church, with Rev. Kevin Ueckert officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Allie was born on June 14, 1911, to Joe and Ella (Coleman) Hubbard in Neinda, Texas. She graduated high school in Neinda and married Joe Arthur Edington on May 26, 1934 in Hamlin, Texas. Joe and Allie moved to Abilene after they were married. Abilene was their home their entire married life, with the exception of three years during World War II, wherein they lived in Pasadena, Texas. Mrs. Edington was a member of Southside Baptist Church for over 60 years. She taught Sunday school and was superintendent of the junior department for many years at Southside. She was a homemaker and also a bookkeeper for Flournoy Plumbing.
Allie was preceded in death by her husband, J.A. Edington on March 18, 1982. She was also preceded by her parents, two sisters and three brothers. She is survived by two daughters, Sue Siltman and her husband Bobby of Abilene, Lue McHan and W.C. McHan of Dallas; five grandchildren, Susan McHan of California, Steven McHan of Dallas, Cindy Brown and her husband Rickey of Abilene, Christy Robinett and her husband Joel of Lubbock, Debbie Villers and her husband Lance of San Antonio; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandson Steve McHan, her Grandsons-in-law, Rickey Brown, Joel Robinett and Lance Villers, and her great-grandsons, Cody Brown and Justin Robinett.
