Alice Bell Stevens, 96, a former longtime resident of Abilene died Wednesday, October 15, 2014, in Big Spring, Texas.
Born in Oklahoma City, OK, Alice was the daughter of Edith (Hale) and James Craib. Having lived most of her life in Abilene, she moved in 1994 to Big Spring where she was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Debbs Stevens; one daughter, Alberta Jean Stevens; two grandchildren, Joey Henson and Pamela Stevens; her parents and ten siblings.
Alice is survived by her son, Robert Stevens and wife Hazel of Chunky, Mississippi; two daughters, Susie Yancey and husband Darrell, and Barbara Thigpen all of Big Spring; brother, Johnny Messenger of Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 18, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene with Bro. Ronnie Newton officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Phantom Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 17, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Yancey, Greg Stevens, Wayne Stevens, Duffy Yancey, Jarod Wells, Cody Griffith, Dakota Griffith and Christopher Stevens.
