Alice "Tincy" Durant, 91, left to be with our Lord on January 9, 2009, at Hendrick Medical Center, after a brief illness.
Born Alice William Bardin on December 19, 1917 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma to Benjamin Sheridan Bardin and Bertha Lee Worbus Bardin. On August 19, 1936, Alice married John Scott Durant in Winters.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 12, 2009 at Potosi Baptist Church with Brother Don Ladner and Rev. Burtis Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery in Winters, Texas. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 11, 2009 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Alice worked at Montgomery Wards 12 years and for the Wylie School District before retiring. She had lived in Potosi for 45 years where she was a member of Potosi Baptist Church and was also a member of The Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents Benjamin and Bertha Bardin, her loving husband John Durant, her son Arelyn Deon, her brothers Eph Bardin and Calvin Bardin and one sister, Rose Flowers.
Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-laws; Verylon and Donna Durant of Von Ormy, Texas, Theron and Julie Durant of Abilene, Texas; six grandchildren, Travis Durant, Traci Durant, Tiffany Durant, LaMarlais Mills, Jimmy-John Durant and Timothy Durant; three great grandchildren, Tommy McCutchen, Allyson Lowery and Meghan Durant; three sisters, Vie Bulsterbaum, Laverne Dagley and Dovie White, and by several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Bardin, Travis Clark, Curtis Jones, Dale Evans, Steve Medford and Mike Pueschel.
