Alfredo was married to Emilia Garcia in 1948 in Eastland, TX. They moved to Abilene in 1956 where they made a home. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He taught his children to be honest and to not fear hard work. Most importantly, he taught us how to love God by his example of service to his family, his church and his community.
Alfred and Emily were founding parishioners of St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church which was dedicated in 1963.
Alfred owned a landscape and yard maintenance business most of his work life and enjoyed building patios, ponds and drawing landscape plans for his clients. His sons have fond memories of being on work crews. He loved a good joke, funny stories and music. Sunday mornings before church, were filled with Mariachi music during breakfast. He read the newspaper daily and was always ready with commentary on current events.
Alfred was preceded in death by his wife, son, John Arthur Marquez, and grandson Patrick Marquez.
Family left to cherish his memory are his children: son Vance Marquez and wife Elva, daughter Virginia Salsbury and Jack Beard, son Joe Marquez and wife Karen, daughter Anita Bartek and husband Frank, son Vincent Marquez, and daughter Liz Sharp and husband Ken; 28 grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Dad was a kind and generous person. We ask that you honor him by making a contribution to St Francis Catholic Church, St Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church, Meals on Wheels Abilene, or your charity of choice.
