Alene Joyce Staggers

Alene Joyce Staggers, 93, died at a local nursing facility on Thursday, September 22, 2005. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 23, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Graveside services will be held at the Potosi Cemetery on Saturday, September 24, 2005, under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, with Dr. Cliff Stewart officiating. Alene Joyce Curtis was born in Abilene on July 28, 1912, to William Homer Curtis and Mary Elizabeth (Revell) Curtis. She married Paul Harvey Staggers on June 5, 1929. She was a homemaker, devoted mother and grandmother, an energetic gardener and a lifelong resident of Abilene. She was a Methodist. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Betty Winkler; one grandson, Blake Korman; four sisters and one brother. She is survived by one daughter, Dottie S. Korman and husband Gilbert, of Abilene; one son-in-law, Bob Winkler of Bonham Texas; one sister, Lottie Tate, of Abilene; five grandchildren, Ken P. Musgrave, of Abilene; Debi Labay, of Houston; Mike Winkler, of Magnolia; Tony Korman of Santa Rosa, California; Greg Korman of New Braunfels, Texas. Survivors also include eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. The family of Mrs. Staggers would like to sincerely express their appreciation to the dedicated caregivers at Sears Methodist Nursing Center and Hospice of the Big Country for lovingly ministering to their loved one.
