Albert Schoppa

Albert Schoppa, Jr., age 89, of Abilene passed away on December 3,2024, in Abilene, Texas

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm on Sunday, December 8,2024 at Hamil Family Funeral Home 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, December 9,2024 at Zion Lutheran Church, 2801 Antilley Road with Pastor Clyde Kieschnick and Pastor Craig Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 pm at Holliday Cemetery, Holliday, Texas with Rev Doc Holaday officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Albert was born in Thalia, Texas to Albert August Schoppa and Hulda Alvina Teinert Schoppa. He went to school at Harrold, Texas. He graduated from St. John's College in Winfied, Kansas and later Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. He married Sallee Parish Schoppa on June 26,1965. He worked as an auditor for Hartford insurance Company for 31 years.

Albert was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church and following retirement spent some 20 plus years as grounds keeper. He loved being outside attending to nature serving his church and church family.

Albert was preceded in death by his mother, Hulda Schoppa, his father August Schoppa, sisters Janice Laverne Schoppa, Janette Lavon Schoppa, Lillie Mae Schoppa and Mary Frances Bredy (Otto); brother, Herbert Schoppa (Ethel Jane) and a host of very dear nieces, nephews and cousins.

Albert is survived by his wife Sallee Parish Schoppa and sister Dorothy Mae Buchhorn (Melvin).

Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church Debt-Reduction Fund, or a favorite charity.
