Albert Burl McAlister, 83, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015.
He was a decorated soldier who served his country honorably in the Korean War from 1950-1954. He then went on to pursue his degree in International Trade from Texas Tech University.
Burl became an accomplished restaurateur. He owned the legendary “Saddle and Sirloin” for over 30 years in Abilene, Texas. He was a visionary, always open to new ideas (Often when we would dine out we’d find him in the kitchen swapping recipes with the chef!), but he will be remembered most for his kind heart. He put others first and cared deeply for their welfare. A man of abundant faith, he’s now enjoying his new home with his Savior.
Burl will be greatly missed by his friends and family left to cherish his memories including his children, Melia Randolph and husband Mack, Lori Wood and husband Keith; grandchildren, Chase Randolph, Colton Wood, McKenna Aaron, Logan Reynolds and Melia Wood; great grandchildren, Allan Tucker Aaron, Shane McAlister Randolph; cousin, Tommy McAlister; his dear friend, Robin Scurlock; and his brother, Don McAlister.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 22, at 11:00 a.m. at Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, 7457 West Lake Road, Abilene, Texas 79601, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
