Albert J. Koltermann, 84, of Abilene, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, in Abilene.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m., Friday, August 30, 2024, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home with Pastor Iziar Lankford officiating. Burial with full military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 30, 2024 at The Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.

Albert was born in San Antonio, Texas on 15 December 1939 to Albert and Minnie Koltermann. Albert loved The Lord, his family and country. Al joined the U.S.A.F. in 1961 and served his country for 27 years. He met the love of his life in San Antonio, Sheryl F. Vonhof, and they were married on 20 February 1970. Sheryl and Al traveled the world while in the Air Force. After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, Albert went to work as a nurse and later earned a certificate as an X-Ray technician. Albert worked at the Minor Emergency Clinic in Abilene. Albert worked at the clinic for many years before retiring from there. Albert and Sheryl were members at Aldersgate Abilene Methodist Church and The Emmaus Community.

Albert was raised a Master Mason in 1962 in Biloxi Mississippi. Albert was a Mason of the Grand Lodge of Mississippi, F. &. A.M. for many years and then became a Texas Mason at John Sayles Lodge in Abilene. Albert was a 50-year member Order of the Eastern Star, Queen Esther Chapter.

Albert is preceded in death by his loving wife Sheryl and they were married for 53 wonderful years. Albert took care of Sophie the cat after the passing of his wife Sheryl. Albert was named after his father and his mother, Minnie Koltermann.

Albert is survived by his and Sheryl’s wonderful chosen daughter, Tracy Whalen.

In lieu of flowers, his wishes were to make donations to Meals on Wheels Plus where Sheryl was employed for 26 years.
