Abraham Lincoln “A.L.” Lindley, 86, of Abilene, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Church of the Heavenly Rest, Episcopal. Burial will follow at 3:30 pm at the Breckenridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
A.L. was born August 4, 1926 in Graham, Texas to Stephen Harvey and Gladys (Pedersen) Lindley. He was raised by his maternal grandparents, Neil and Claire Pedersen in Gatesville, Texas. He went to school in Gatesville and entered the Army in 1944 and served on Leyte and Luzon. A.L. lived in Breckenridge after he returned from the service. He married Hazyl Collins on January 15, 1950 in Breckenridge. A.L. was a member of the Church of the Heavenly Rest, Episcopal and was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 2012 in Abilene.
A.L. was in the oil well drilling business for many years with his father and brother. After selling the drilling business, he worked for Salta Pipe as a salesman for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and only brother, Steve Lindley, Jr. of Breckenridge.
A.L. is survived by his wife, Hazyl Lindley; one son, Michael Lindley and wife Tonja, of Denton; two grandchildren, Hayden Michael Lindley and wife Hannah, also of Denton, and Harrison Bennett Lindley, who is attending college at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas.
